Hair clip redo
The embellishment I had on my clip came off. So, what is a mom to do? I tried using my glue gun to put it back on but it wouldn't stay. Then I decided to use some scraps I had to make a new one. I cut the material to fit the top of the clip and used my glue gun to keep it on. I then cut out three circles and glued them on top of one another. I cut slits in them here and there to get a "flower" like look. I glued a button in the middle and then glued the final piece onto the clip. I think it turned out cute.

The Great Gatsby
This is a story that unfolds in the 1920's, prohibition era. Nick is the narrator of the novel. Nick is a late 20 something, who is trying to decide how he wants to earn a living. The Great Gatsby is his elusive, rich neighbor that always seems to have lavish parties filled with random people, that most of whom he doesn't even know. One day he sends a personal invitation to Nick. Nick can't decide what the truth is about Gatsby and is seems to go from liking to disliking either him or the character he portrays. Nick, soon finds out that Gatsby has a somewhat unhealthy obsession with Nick's cousin Daisy.
This was a classic novel that I enjoyed and was entertained throughout with the various characters in Nick's life and the changing and somewhat twisting plot. Most of characters were not lovable but very memorable. It was a bit of a dark comedy and drama. I would recommend reading this and crossing it off your classic list. It is a fairly easy and enjoyable read.

God's word for January 19, 2012
I believe in showing Christ's love is the best thing you can do. I have a few scriptures memorized but I would like to memorize more and especially those pertaining to loss.
"Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep." Romans 12:15, is a great start to my journey. My life isn't about me and I must say "no" to my flesh daily. I am imperfect but everyday God is changing me. I want to make my heavenly father rejoice and bring a smile to Jesus even when his heart is breaking. Sometimes, it is best to just listen and show love rather than argue about things you may disagree on. Pray for God's help and healing touch. Lord, let me show your love, grace and mercy onto others. Let me live the legacy that you would like me too. I want to be a blessing onto others. Thank you for your word and guidance everyday.

sweater weather
It is chilly today! but my wonderful oldest son took some pictures of me. I found this great sweater at Goodwill As Is yesterday, for $1.29, The top underneath I found at another thrift store in our town for cheap (can't remember the price got it awhile ago) the pants I got on a previous trip for the same price. They are getting a little big on me, but that is a good thing. I like them and they are very comfortable. That is where a belt can come in handy ;) I also got the scarf at Goodwill As Is I know they are less than a buck. The boots I got a garage sale a few years ago for a couple of dollars. The headband is from Payless on sale for $2 and the earrings I got at either Hospice thrift store of Goodwill for around $1. That is my frugal, cute and comfy outfit.

God's word for January 13, 2012
Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong. Hebrews 5:14
Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Psalm 91:5
A psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation--so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? Psalm 27:1
Which brings me to another subject, The Mayan Calendar. It is ridiculous to even give it the time of day. God is the only one who knows the day and time and I don't have any fear because Jesus is with me on a daily basis and blessings my family and I all the time. So, I don't hold any stock in what the world says because God has a final say and is in control.
But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[a] but only the Father. Matthew 24:36
Thank you Lord for your word today and for your blessing of peace and harmony that I do not and will never find in this world but only in you. Thank you for your son whom died for our sins and has his arms and heart wide open for us just waiting for our return. Thank you for the angels and holy spirit whom protect us and help encourage us along the way. In Jesus name, Amen.

Rain on my Parade
Here it is January and it is raining instead of snowing. Well, it is all right because I have a cool umbrella and nice black dress boots to keep me dry :) Most of this outfit came from Goodwill As Is (discounted Goodwill next to our Goodwill) Scalloped Cardigan, shirt/tunic, black tank top, leggings: Goodwill As Is all $1.69 per item. Boots from Goodwill $7.99. Scarf from Goodwill or other thrift store not sure of the price. Earrings from Hospice Thrift store $ Cheap :) Umbrella from Goodwill As Is $ Dirt cheap. Bracelet b-day gift from my Sister. This is the first time I am posting my outfit. I think I will get a bit more relaxed and the pictures should get better :) Sorry, I forgot to smile but I was happy really I was. I get a little nervous in front of the camera but I will get better. I also can see when I can enhance an outfit a bit more. I think I should have worn a belt on the outside of the cardigan even thought the tunic had a built in one but you cannot really see it because the cardigan covers it.

Great trip at Goodwill today. I found a great little basket for .79 cents for some of my bathroom stuff. I think baskets are great for organizing. I also found some great clothes at the As Is side. For those of you who don't know we have a discounted Goodwill side called "As is",everything is marked down from the original Goodwill price and non returnable. It is located next door from the regular Goodwill. I found some great black pumps from Target (Xhilaration) for about $2, regular Goodwill price was $5.99. I think every woman needs a nice pair of black pumps. Another great thing about them besides the great price, is that they have a ruffle decoration on them. Perfect for me since I love embellished pumps more than Plain Jane pumps. My baby liked them too. He tried grabbing them when I tried to take a picture :)

You are a mighty and awesome God. Thank you for sacrificing your son, Jesus so that I may live and have eternal life. I praise you and love you. Thank you for everything in Jesus name, Amen.

Give a shelf a little Pretty: Before
Give a shelf a little Pretty: After
I am just beginning to do some projects like this again. If I had a bit more time and it wasn't winter I might have thought about painting the shelf a different color and the wood white but it works for now. I hope to get better at these type of projects as I move along. The top picture shows what it looks like with bin organizers.
Happy New Year!
- God is teaching me patience on a daily basis, Thank you Lord :)
- I will continue on my health and lifestyle change and hope I will be a great influence to my family. I have asked God for help with this as well.
- To be the best possible mom and wife I can be and to rely on God fully to do that.
- To praise God on a daily basis and to teach my kids about Jesus by what I do rather then tell them how to be. Even in my mistakes I can teach my kids about God's grace and how we are imperfect but Jesus will love us and continue to change us.
- To cast all my cares on the Lord, he knows what is best and is in control.
