When your heart is broken

All of us have dealt with a broken or bruised heart in our lifetime and it is very likely that it has happened more than once. Whether it is a lost loved one, a broken relationship, hardships of life or just heartbreaking stories of others and our hearts ache for them. "Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn." Romans 12:15 Through all the trials and tribulations of life we have a great redeemer. "God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted." Matthew 5:4

Whatever is broken God will fix. I received this message from God a few months ago on a walk with my youngest. My mom had given me her wedding dishes a few years ago. My parents have been divorced about eight years now. There is some sentimental value to these dishes. I have not found a hutch to display them and they have been in the basement. A few have been broken into pieces. On this walk I saw some boxes in front of my brother's buddy's house. Being thrifty, I took a look. What did I find? The exact same pattern of my parent's wedding dishes. The chances of finding these were slim to none. They are from the eighties and kind of a rare pattern. This touched my heart. God was not only telling me he cares but he can fix whatever is broken and make it new."This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 and "He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds" Psalm 147:3.

There isn't anything the Lord can't fix and even in times where it is hard to stand and we grow weary he will lift us up. "Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:30-31 The Lord will gives us strength and endurance. Lord, thank you for giving me a great story to uplift others and let them know of your love, mercy and grace. When I tell this story help me to remember what the story means and in your word it says that "All things work for the good of those who love God and are called according to your purpose" Romans 8:28. Let me be quick to listen and slow to speak. And when I do speak let the holy spirit speak through me. Thank you Lord for all your blessings and the opportunities to talk about how amazing you are. In Jesus name, Amen
